βThe experiences and struggles of lgbt+ people of colour are often forgotten or unconsidered, especially when people fail to realise what life is actually like at the intersection of those identities.
When I first began planning for this coffee table book I struggled to find a collective body of work delineated explicitly to the experiences of Queer/Transgender people of colour in London, as most of these bodies of work centre around the experiences of the wider lgbt+ community. I personally believed it was essential to create a channel whereby the testimonies regarding the intersectionality of POC experiences are heard.
To do my part in creating a positive platform for the lgbt+ youth community of colour, I decided to not only feature the identifying individuals and their experiences but to create the book together as a community and as a safe space. For us, by us. Meaning, all the photographers, make-up artists, models, set designers, stylist and designers are lgbt+ people of colour, highlighting the experiences of the individuals featured and simultaneously, acting as a portfolio for the qtpoc creatives behind the scenes.β
